Legends of Tomorrow: Underwhelmingly Excellent

Part 1 of the Pilot episode of the DC Comics TV Show Legends of Tomorrow was Excellent. It was nothing less than exactly what needed to happen. The hype and the build up for this show was immeasurable. People have been talking about this for over a year as new details emerged and cast announced, we waited with baited breath.

Well, here it was. It finally came, the premiere. I was not able to watch it live, but the first chance I got once my wife fell asleep on the couch was to grab a drink and turn on this new show. I sat there and watched, everything I could think of unfold, with cameos and jokes; and action, and British accents. The first 10 minutes alone were better than Arrow had been the last season and a half. But I sat there and thought, is this it? Just excellent? Thats all?

About half way through act 2, I am thinking we could get a huge surprise, I think that we are going to see something Extraordinary. But the only thing we got was plain, amazing. I tried to convince myself, something was building. So as the episode almost finished, and we have already gotten our Action, drama, comedy, great acting, camaraderie building, dance montage, and TIME TRAVEL!!!! I realized there was no hidden surprise, no catch, no hook. DC and the CW had built an amazing show that didn’t need a gimmick. It took the trash, the refuse from The Flash and Arrow and built a concrete and amazing show. It took characters that no one should care about really, and added a time traveling Rip Hunter from the future and turned this show into the No 2 show on the CW behind The Flash.

A truly amazing feat from the mind of Greg Berlanti and the CW/DC Comics crew. This show gives you nothing more than exactly what you ask for.

Monday Morning 9 to 5: Circuit Court Judge

From Nine to Five: Super Powers, Normal Jobs

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have super powers? Yep me too, but what would it be like if the people in our every day lives had super powers too? What if it were so mundane and ordinary that everyone on Earth had a power and they had to go on living their everyday lives like it were no big deal? What current comic book superheroes would be best suited for normal blue collar jobs? That is the question at hand and each Monday I will bring you a different job that people hold everyday and I will suggest a few different Superheroes and/ or Villains that would be best suited for those jobs. I hope you enjoy, because this weeks job is:

Circuit Court Judge

Circuit court judges preside over all aspects of felony trials, from pretrial hearings to sentencing. They oversee the jury selection process, for grand juries and regular juries, decide the admissibility of evidence, consider whether attorney objections should be sustained or overruled, and instruct jurors concerning applicable law to consider during deliberation. Each state has sentencing guidelines to which a circuit court judge must adhere. Provided they stay within the sentencing guideline parameters, circuit court judges may set sentences for as long as they deem fit.

Imagine getting into trouble and going to jail. Imagine that you did something bad enough that you were going to be arraigned and you were going in front of a Judge. Imagine your surprise as you step into the courtroom only to be face to face with Judge Dredd! No matter your offense, from Jaywalking to littering you will be sentenced to DEATH.

Were you late for work one day? Did you double park or forget to pay the meter? Well in Judge Dredd’s jurisdiction that is a class A felony, good job dude! Leave early next time!

When you decided that you didn’t need to pick up the trash that blew out of the back of your truck while driving down the road and it hit a cop car; that was assaulting an officer. Goodbye life.

That is Judge Dredd’s world now that he is the local Circuit Court Judge in your town. Good luck!

Monday Morning 9 to 5: Software Developer

Software Developer

  • Reviewing current systems
  • Presenting ideas for system improvements, including cost proposals
  • Working closely with analysts, designers and staff
  • Producing detailed specifications and writing the program codes
  • Testing the product in controlled, real situations before going live
  • Preparation of training manuals for users
  • Maintaining the systems once they are up and running

What current superhero or villain would suit this position best? Hmmm. I have a pretty good Idea who I think would make a great Software Developer? Brainiac? Danger? no, I am thinking more along the lines of Forge from the X-Men!

Forge, from the X-Men, has the mutant ability to understand machines. He has the ability to create anything he can think of and that would come in very handy if he were a software designer for a large company. Forge would be the ultimate IT guy, no matter what problem you or your company have with their systems Forge can create a program to fix it. He could also build you a network out of any electronics he could find.

Imagine hackers attacking your company and there was nothing you could do to stop it. All you would have to do is call Forge and he would create a software to counteract the attack without even skipping a beat. This would save you and your company millions and millions of dollars. All Forge would have to do is collect buckets of cash. So next time you are going over the software any anything you have purchased, maybe Forge could have made it better.

Forge Forge working hard on that new Anti-Virus Software you asked for!

Throwback Thursday: WCW Galoob Action Figures

Throwback Thursday: Galoob’s WCW Wrestling Figures

Man o man did I love these figures. Even though they are static I didn’t know it at the time. All I knew was I could do all of the wrestling moves that I saw on TV with all of the characters I loved from WCW. Each figure was static in their “Finisher” move pose. So all of them were set to win at any moment.

I had almost all of them. Mr. Z, Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, Lex Luger, Sting, the Stiener Brothers, Vader and many many more. Now there were 2 different sizes there was the 5-6 inch and the 10-11 inch figures and they all came with the same gold WCW generic championship belt.

There were 2 different wrestling rings that you could get for them and I know that I had both. Back then wrestling was my life. You could get the Steel Cage ring or the standard WCW ring that was white and red. Both were so much fun and I know that I spent many many hours playing with all of my figures and probably GI Joes in there too.

These toys brought me hours and hours of enjoyment in a very fun way. I would sit and watch wrestling every monday night and play with my WCW figures and these people were superheroes to me back then. I owe a lot to these figures and I hope they brought you great memories too.

Woman Crush Wednesday: Rey

Woman Crush Wednesday: Rey

rey7

She is the main Protagonist in the Highest Grossing movie in the United Stated of All Time, and that only too 3 weeks to achieve. Rey is the ass kicking, force wielding, Millennium Falcon flying woman that is leading the new generation of Star Wars films into success.

Rey is not at anytime sexualized in The Force Awakens and stands toe to toe with Kylo Ren only days after even knowing she has the force within her. She is strong and tough and easily a future star in the Star Wars Universe. She lives on the desert planet of Jakku and scavenges just to make ends meet. But when the time comes she is ready for adventure and action and can hold her own with the best of them.

I am looking forward to seeing how much ass she kicks in the next 2 installments of the Star Wars franchise. Here is to one amazing woman, Rey (Sky-Sol-nobi?)

Monday Morning 9 to 5: Benihana Chef

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have super powers? Yep me too, but what would it be like if the people in our every day lives had super powers too? What if it were so mundane and ordinary that everyone on Earth had a power and they had to go on living their everyday lives like it were no big deal? What current comic book superheroes would be best suited for normal blue collar jobs? That is the question at hand and each Monday I will bring you a different job that people hold everyday and I will suggest a few different Superheroes and/ or Villains that would be best suited for those jobs. I hope you enjoy, because this weeks job is:

Benihana Chef

Wolverine would make an obviosuly successful chef at the restaurant Benihana. I mean He slices, He dices, and he’s the best at what he does, and what he does is make Onion Volcanoes.

benihana-village

He could have your order done in minutes, and deal with any customers that didn’t want to pay the bill. Imagine is Logan went through the Weapon X program, but never met Professor X. He would have to have some time of square job to fall back into. So this seems as likely a choice as an Avenger, right?
